In 2015 Sasha & Bayley put on one of the most iconic women’s matches in WWE’s history. That match had the crowd chanting her name from Aug all the way up to WrestleMania 32 while she was doing essentially nothing. Everyone thought she would be crowned at Mania 32 & what happened?
Fine Sasha doesn’t get crowned at Mania. She’s relegated to Main Event while Char & Natalya are having a feud but the crowd is still chanting her name. She finally enters the Title picture in June & WWE gives her the Title on Raw. Crowd goes insane & what happens 2 weeks after?
Summerslam they take the Title off of her, decide to gives it back to her on Raw & on the day she is going to main event HIAC w/ Char they tell her she’s going to lose the Title in her hometown. Than they give it back to her on Raw as a rating play going head to head w/ Football.
Then after she wins the Title she is off tv and the following week is about Charlotte and Ric than on the 3rd week she loses the Title at Roadblock by tapping out TWICE and coming out on Raw to put Charlotte over as the better competitor. Goes on to get squashed by Nia.
So it’s 2017. Sasha is having s mini feud with Nia, chilling with the Cruiserweights and cat fighting with Alicia Fox, while Alexa Bliss has the Title and she is squashing Bayley. She gets to feud for the Title. First match against Alexa is a DQ, 2nd Match at Summerslam she wins.
What happens after? WWE takes the Title off of her in 8 days. Like why would you m give her the Title in the first place? Because Bayley was hurt & you wanted to swerve the audience making Sasha look like a choke artist. Spent the rest of the year losing to build to the Rumble.
So the Rumble comes around that she plays a heavy part in laying it out and making sure all the women get their moves in she semi turns heel & starts the feud with Bayley by eliminating her. She loses to Asuka the next night. A match she got told about right before Raw started.
Sasha & Bayley are going back and forth. She kicks her off the pod at EC, Bayley & Her are brawling on Raw, their character Frustrations are mounting, Bayley beats her ass saying “you ain’t shit” while the crowd goes insane and then what? WWE puts them in counseling and drops it.
Just like that. Tag Titles are coming and WWE wants them there eventually so Tag Matches galore going forward every week. Sasha takes a couple of weeks off having PCS comes back, wins at Evolution & back to tag matches. But wait Ronda is Champion & has a dream match: Sasha Banks.
So Sasha is prepping to be a tag wrestler and WWE decides she is going to face Ronda. No prep, nothing. She goes full Boss character on Rousey. A character WWE hasn’t allowed her to play since late 2015. Sasha has somehow spent more time as a Face than a Heel in her career.
Heelish Sasha makes people take notice and splits the crowd w/ Ronda. She eventually loses, goes back to what was but WWE rewards her & Bayley with the Tag Titles at EC. Let’s them defend against NIA and Tamina, lets them to travel to NXT and takes it right off of them at Mania.
IIconics are a wonderful & deserves it but it looked like a Last minute change. Fine it’s the Raw after Mania. Bliss calls out Sasha & Bayley for her return match & Alexa ends up beating Bayley in 4 mins. The night after Bayley was already pinned? Your 2 biggest shows of the yr?
Sasha isn’t underutilized, She’s missused. There’s been a lot fuckery when it comes to Sasha and creative/booking. Anytime she gathers any momentum they cut her down at the knees. That frustration builds up and I feel like similar to Dean you just get tired.
