Gioco per masochistiAll of the problems above spoil what little Agony does right, and as a result, it’s hard to recommend Agony to anyone. The only people who should consider Agony are people that want a truly hardcore, even at the expense of enjoyment, survival horror game that will put your patience to the test. Or, someone that really wants to experience a truly horrifying take on hell that we’ve never seen before, complete with actual torture. That’s the only value I can eek out of Agony, and that’s a damned shame.

IGN SPAGNA:Being a tormented soul which travels between bodies to escape Hell is a great idea. And there are some good design choices made in Agony, but everything falls apart because of its mediocre graphics, poor controls and unpredictable AI.

One of the most anticipated horror games of recent years does not end up being. Agony is excellent in terms of the setting and the particular design of his vision of hell, but he does not know how to make it interesting, with too much secrecy and exploration and few memorable moments. It also does not help that the artistic design is overshadowed by a graphic finish that seems of the past generation, with textures that are too poor and washed and the general feeling that a new Kickstarter has cast it with the downgrade. We doubt that your backers are happy with the level of final finish.

evidentemente l'opera d'arte non è piaciutaDai su, ora vai a partecipare a qualche petizione femminista già che ci sei. Un setting così estremo non si vedeva da quanto? In confronto Doom sembra na barzelletta. Finalmente degli sviluppatori con le palle perché che ti piaccia o no questa è sempre una forma d'arte, non solo tette, culi e blasfemia.

The further you get in, the more the game manages to visually entice while ultimately driving you mad with just how poorly designed it all it is. First, the level design itself is purposefully obtuse. It's not "smart" obtuse, most of the time it's just annoyingly nonsensical, to the point where it is an extremely frequent occurrence to wonder which way is even "up." It's extra painful because, man, some of this stuff can actually be very interesting to look at, but when you actually have to navigate it? It's like pulling teeth.
The cracks in the design rear the head further the more the game wants to challenge you. Whether it's not being able to see, or having enemies "camping" various choke-points in the level, or worse yet enemies that knock the player character around, you'll find yourself so disoriented that sometimes you just want the game to kill you so you can start over. Until you actually realize that "starting over" in this game sometimes mean a significant amount of lost progress; without a manual save system, you're at the behest of the game's notion of a checkpoint, which seems as malleable as the bloodied, pulsating walls. Sometimes you're fine, other times you drop somewhere in the vicinity of 5-15 minutes, depending on how well you know the environment.

Playability:None of the systems are explained well, and poorly laid out environments result in constant navigational frustrations
Entertainment:Inconsistent enemy A.I., a bad story, and lackluster environments come together to create a grueling slog of a game

Agony lives up to its name in the most dreadful way possible. The gory shock tactics try too hard to impress, and are ultimately a moot point given just how effective the game’s brokenness is at dispelling any palpable fear or awe I might have had and replacing it with aggravation.

"Nomen omen"Unfortunately, it is a disaster, a complete failure. It would have been better for the game to assume and be a walking simulator. The developers would have better managed their resources. Agony is characteristic of projects that do too much, he wanted to be bigger than he is. Why did you make collectibles? Why did you have bonus modes? If the base is not solid, it's a waste of time. I also lost my time, I wanted to find qualities, I wanted to believe and at some point towards the end of the game I stopped. I did not finish Agony, I was still looking for one more of these damn symbols and I said stop. I do not care if there's a great twist at the end. Nothing beats such trials. The real agony is just playing Agony.
