The official website for Kodansha's Bessatsu Friend magazine revealed on Thursday that Akane Shimizu's Cells at Work! manga will get a new spinoff manga in the magazine's February issue on Saturday titled Hataraku Saibō Friend (Cells at Work! Friend). The manga's debut will feature two chapters. Kanna Kurono is penning the story for the manga, while Mio Izumi is drawing the art.
The manga will center on a Killer T Cell, who is normally strict with himself and others, but wants to have fun during his time off. He wants to make friends, but doesn't want to ruin his intimidating character at the same time.
The official Twitter account for the Cells at Work! anime announced on Saturday that the anime will get a second season. The staff will reveal more details about the new season at a later date.

The June issue of Kodansha's Monthly Shonen Sirius magazine revealed on Friday that Yuuko Kakihara (Cells at Work! anime series composition) and Yasu (Joshiraku, Toradora!) will launch a spinoff manga of Akane Shimizu's Cells at Work! manga titled Hataraku Kesshōban-chan (Platelets at Work) in the magazine's next issue on May 25. The manga will center on the Platelet characters from the original manga.

The November issue of Kodansha's Monthly Shonen Sirius magazine announced on Saturday that Akane Shimizu's Cells at Work!! (Hataraku Saibō) will get a new chapter in the next issue on October 26. The chapter will be the series' first in about two years.

The issue also announced that the manga is inspiring a new spinoff series titled Hataraku Saibō WHITE (Cells at Work!! White) that will also launch in the magazine's December issue. Tetsuji Kanie (Hypnosis Mic: Division Rap Battle -side B.B. & M.T.C) is drawing the manga that will center on White Blood Cells.
