Dropped but not forgotten

The "Gigolo Mode" was originally intended for Shadows of the Damned, however, it was dropped and later reintroduced into Killer is Dead.

Modifiche

In the arcade version the main boss was named Lucifer, while in the console versions he was named Loki. This change was made to reduce the strong religious reference.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow

A scroll can be found in the second level of the DLC chapter "Resurrection". It deals with 'the Beast of Aaargh', a reference to the movie Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

Poche voci, tanti ruoli

The developers were eager to get lots of mileage out of their (probably expensive) VA talent. The actors voiced three characters apiece, including the performers in Gonzola's circus troupe.

Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3

Pressing Select on the pause screen exactly 16 times will open up the game's debug mode. This will display a cursor that allows the player to change the timer, heart count and coin count as well as cycle through Wario's various power-ups.

Modifiche necessarie

To avoid comparisons between hero Rick Taylor and 'Friday The 13th' villain Jason Voorhees, the design of the Terror Mask in this game has been changed to appear less like a hockey mask and more like a skull.

Una rarità

tBgscci.jpeg

The game uses two DVDs, a rarity for a PlayStation 2 release. It can be because of large amount of cutscenes, both prerendered and in-engine, which utilise high-poly models

Difficilissimo... per caso:

Ninja Gaiden

According to the game's artist, Masato Kato, the game's difficulty was the result of an accident, however the development team decided to not try to fix the difficulty as they enjoyed it.

Una eccezzione

In Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness, if you use Weather Ball under the effects of Shadow Sky, it becomes a ??? Type move.

Unused function

Unused files in the game's data suggests that it was originally possible to access a palette selection screen where the player would have been able to change the colors of the Kirbys, but it was scrapped for unknown reasons. It would have been possible to chose up to thirteen color palettes, with most of them corresponding to the Spray Paint colors in Kirby & The Amazing Mirror and Kirby: Squeak Squad.

Niente QTE:

Devil May Cry

According to Yuichiro Hiraki, the game was originally going to feature quick time events. Their implementation was scrapped due to mostly time constraints. Hideki Kamiya had a specification document that had a storyboard detailing an action sequence between Dante and a Blade.

"There were going to be a bunch of OTEs, like when Dante just barely dodges the pursuing Phantom. But we were... a bit frazzled at the time. so we begged and pleaded to have no QTEs. (laughs) That was just one gameplay element that was never realized. mostly because of time constraints."

Una serie sfortunata

YD0Zxu2.jpeg

The series was obviously Konami's answer to the Sonic the Hedgehog series, complete with high speed action elements and a cute little Mascot with Attitude. The series setting and content is more than distinct enough to keep Sparkster from being a mere ripoff of Sonic, fortunately. Unfortunately, this was the series own undoing, as people often lumped it in with other dime a dozen Sonic ripoffs, which kept the series from becoming anything beyond a sleeper hit in sales.

Piccolo Glitch

While Bumpties can only bump into Yoshi and not hurt him, if Yoshi is hurt by a different enemy or obstacle and a Bumpty is on-screen, it will run to and steal Baby Mario similarly to a Bandit. This is the only game in the Yoshi series where Bumpties are known to behave like this, and is a rare interaction since there are few instances in the game where Bumpties and obstacles are close enough to trigger it.

Misure anti-pirateria:

Ys VS Sora no Kiseki Alternative Saga

Ys vs. Trails in the Sky: Alternative Saga has an anti-piracy feature activated if the game detects the PlayStation Portable's system firmware is illegitimate. During a match, the collisions for walls and some floors will be turned off at random points, occasionally causing players to clip through walls or fall out of bounds before respawning back at the starting location. Additionally, some bosses and enemies will not respawn if they fall off the map, making fights with them unwinnable.

A single hunter

In the N64 version of the game, you can see a dead Hunter in the B4F Culture Room. This is the only hunter to appear in Resident Evil 2.

Un po' Ghos n Goblins, un po' Burton:

Medievil

According to MediEvil creator Chris Sorrell, he described MediEvil as a fusion of Capcom's Ghost n Goblins and Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas. It had the working title 'Dead Man Dead' before being called MediEvil.

"The first design proposal for the game had the working title ‘Dead Man Dan’ and described a game that was a fusion of Capcom’s Ghouls’n Ghosts with the art style of Tim Burton – especially the look and feel of The Nightmare Before Christmas. In both cases these were things that I was a huge fan of back in the mid ‘90s. Lead artist Jason Wilson shared my interest in dark, gothic influenced artwork and we worked together to define the look and feel of the game."

Un controller speciale

In the Dreamcast release, the player can use a fishing rod controller to play. The swings of the controller are used to simulate weapon attacks.

Navi Trackers:

The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures

Navi Trackers (originally planned as a stand alone game titled Tetra's Trackers) is only on the Japanese and Korean versions of The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures. In this game, multiple players, using a combination of the television screen and Game Boy Advances, search for members of Tetra's pirate gang to gain stamps from them, as many as possible within a given time limit. Unlike most other entries in the series, players can select their gender as well their name; however, they play as one of the Links regardless of this choice. Tetra and her pirate crew have full voiceovers in place of text-only dialogue, with Tetra also synthesizing the two-character name that each player inputs at the beginning of the session, possibly why this game was not localized for the English release.
