Blaster Master

In Japan the game was known as Metafight. When being brought over to the west, not only was the name changed, but so was the plot, some of the sprites to compensate for the changed story, and an intro was added.

Numeri

David Jaffe said that they did not want to include the Roman numeral number two (II) in the title because they did not view God of War II as a sequel, but a continuation of the previous game. However, they did not want the title to convey the impression it was an expansion pack.

Prima guerriero, poi mago

Spider-Man and the Sinister Six
In the NES version, there are unused sprites suggesting that Spider-Man was once planned to climb walls.

Fixed

The character Juhani is a lesbian. However, due to an error in the initial release of the game, she could be romanced when playing as a male character. This was fixed in later editions, and patched out of the PC version.

Concept intrigante ma scartato

An early concept-art shows a version of Skyloft that was actually inspired by the real-life Mont Saint Michel in France.

Niente QTE:

Devil May Cry

According to Yuichiro Hiraki, the game was originally going to feature quick time events. Their implementation was scrapped due to mostly time constraints. Hideki Kamiya had a specification document that had a storyboard detailing an action sequence between Dante and a Blade.

"There were going to be a bunch of OTEs, like when Dante just barely dodges the pursuing Phantom. But we were... a bit frazzled at the time. so we begged and pleaded to have no QTEs. (laughs) That was just one gameplay element that was never realized. mostly because of time constraints."

Un lunghissimo sviluppo

The game was developed long before the Wii U even started development. In an Iwata Asks interview, Masataka Takemoto stated that the team used materials from New Super Mario Bros. Wii. By the time the Wii U GamePad was announced, he considered having four-player cooperative play with an extra player using said GamePad to add blocks.

INCUBO sventato

While Navi does not appear in Twilight Princess, she has unused lines and sound effects which can be found in the game's data, including those which may have been intended to be heard from the Wii Remote speaker in the Wii version.

Sistema antipirateria:

From tv animation: Slam Dunk
The game will detect for any piracy activity during most screen transitions in three different ways: by saving, by writing to read-only memory, and by checking if the game is played on a PAL-region console. Should the game detect itself as a pirated copy, the game will display a black screen with the Japanese katakana word "ビデオ" ("Video") on the top right corner of the screen, imitating the video input channel display on common television sets at the time. The text then proceeds to behave erratically, as if the TV had glitched. Presumably, this screen was designed to taunt pirates for playing an unauthorized copy of the game.

A variant of this screen exists in the game's sequel, From TV Animation Slam Dunk 2: IH Yosen Kanzenhan!, serving as the screen saver for that game's debug mode as well.

According to information for the Greninja obtained at the beginning of the game's pre-release demo, the name of its original trainer is 'Ash'. This Greninja also met Ash on October 17, 2013, the exact date the first episode of the Pokemon XY Anime was broadcast in Japan. In the episode, Ash Ketchum met Greninja as Froakie.

Cauldron Keep, the last "level" in Banjo-Tooie, was originally intended to be a fully-fledged final world with its own extra set of 10 Jiggies and challenges to complete. According to series head Gregg Mayles, it ended up being massively cut down in scope due to time constraints, now only featuring a third battle against Klungo, the Tower of Tragedy Quiz and the final battle against Gruntilda in the HAG-1 at the top of the tower. This would also explain why Banjo-Tooie only features 90 Jiggies, in comparison to its predecessor that featured 100.
