Amazon Develops The Promised Neverland Live-Action Series

Variety and Deadline reported on Wednesday that Amazon is developing an English-language live-action series adaptation of Kaiu Shirai and Posuka Demizu's The Promised Neverland manga. Rodney Rothman (Spider-Man: Into The Spiderverse) is directing the adaptation, and Meghan Malloy (Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse) is writing the pilot.

Rothman is an executive producer with Masi Oka (Heroes, Netflix's live-action Death Note film, Hollywood Attack on Titan film), and Vertigo Entertainment's Roy Lee and Miri Yoon. Fox 21 Television Studios and Amazon Studios are producing the adaptation.

A Japanese live-action film adaptation of the manga will open in Japan on December 18.

This year's 28th issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine revealed on Monday that The Promised Neverland manga artist Posuka Demizu is drawing the character designs for a new game in collaboration with the LINE app and Shueisha.

The Promised Neverland Manga Gets New Chapter at Tokyo Exhibition

This year's combined 36th and 37th issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine revealed on Tuesday that Kaiu Shirai and Posuka Demizu will publish a new 19-page chapter of their The Promised Neverland manga at the "The Promised Neverland Special Exhibition" event in Roppongi Hills in Tokyo from December 11 through January 11.

The duo published a new one-shot manga titled "Shinrei Shashinshi Kōno Saburō" (Supernatural Photographer Saburō Kōno) in the same 36th and 37th issue on Tuesday.

The Promised Neverland Anime Cast Narrates Live-Action Film's Teaser

The official website for the live-action film of Kaiu Shirai and Posuka Demizu's The Promised Neverland manga began streaming the "anime collaboration" version of the film's first teaser video on Friday. The video features narration by the anime's main cast.



The film will open on December 18.



19-year-old actress Minami Hamabe (live-action anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day special's Menma, live-action Saki film's title role, Hello World film's Ruri Ichigyō) is starring in the film as Emma (center in photograph at right). 13-year-old Jyo Kairi (live-action My Little Monster and Erased) and 17-year-old Rihito Itagaki (Show By Rock!! stage musical) are playing Ray (right) and Norman (left), respectively.

Yūichirō Hirakawa (live-action ERASED film, live-action Rookies series) is directing the film. Noriko Gotou is penning the film's script. Hirakawa and Gotou worked together on the live-action Erased film.

Actress Keiko Kitagawa (right in image below, live-action Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon's Sailor Mars, Paradise Kiss) will play Isabella ("Mama"), while comedian Naomi Watanabe (left, live-action KANNAsa-n!'s Kanna Suzuki) will play Krone.



 
The Promised Neverland Franchise Gets 4th Novel

The official Twitter account for The Promised Neverland franchise revealed on Monday that the franchise is getting its fourth novel. The novel will contain stories told in the first anime season's DVD booklet, and in the Jump Giga magazine, as well as a new short story. The novel will ship on December 4, alongside the franchise's fanbook. The new novel's title is Yaksoku no Neverland: Omoide no Film-tachi (The Promised Neverland: The Films of Memories). Nanao is again writing the novel.

The manga's first novel, Yakusoku no Neverland: Norman kara no Tegami (The Promised Neverland: A Letter from Norman), shipped in Japan in June 2018. The second novel, Yakusoku no Neverland: Mama-tachi no Tsuisōkyoku (The Promised Neverland: Moms' Song of Remembrance), shipped in January 2019. The second novel focuses on Isabella and Sister Krone.

The third novel, Yakusoku no Neverland: Senyū-tachi no Record (The Promised Neverland: Record of War Buddies), shipped on October 2. The novel focuses on Yuugo and Lucas.

The official website for the television anime of Kaiu Shirai and Posuka Demizu's The Promised Neverland manga announced two more cast members for the anime's second season on Friday. Shin'ichirō Kamio joins the cast as the new character Sonju, while Atsumi Tanezaki joins as Mujika.

The second season will premiere on Fuji TV's Noitamina programming block on January 7, 2021.
