You're being very diplomatic about it, which is fair. But nothing's being ignored. The thing is, remove emotion from it and look at it from a consumer's perspective. A regular joe shmoe doesn't care how the sausage is made, they just want good games at a good cadence. When you break things down, Everwild was announced almost 4 years ago, we still literally know next to nothing about it or have seen it since.
Hellblade 2 was announced back in 2019 and is in a similar boat, still hasn't really been shown in any substantial way. The gameplay snippet, while looking incredible visually, was pretty much just Senua running back and forth.
Turn 10's last game was like 6 years ago, 'reboot' granted. 343's been talked about to death so no need to beat a dead horse. Compulsion's last game was in 2018. Avowed, SOD3, Fable, Contraband, etc have been radio silent for 3 straight years, and you could go on.
As someone who works in games, I know it's hard as shit to make them. No doubt. So I'm not shitting on any of the teams.
It's okay to take 5+ years to bring out a game. But at the same time it's also up to first party platform holders to make sure players have stuff to play and at a regular pace in between, and while Grounded and Pentiment are great, they're by the same team and again, from an audience perspective, I don't think people are tripping over themselves to hop to Xbox for them. They don't move the needle at all for the brand. Almost two years without a big exclusive is
dire. Anyway, I hope it doesn't feel like I'm raining on people's parade, that's just my two cents, I can't speak for anyone else here but myself. As someone who's been playing on Xbox since day one, that's all I want. A well oiled first party Xbox machine, games that get people talking and growing the ecosystem in ways smaller games can't. Maybe I'm just nostalgic for the old days on OG Xbox and 360. Those consoles got so much play time. I'm excited for the June show, Starfield is a day one buy, and I hope they come out really swinging.
