Sorry if this has already been pointed out, but one thing I found pretty interesting is just how long some of this GTA VI material had actually been sitting on cyberleek before it started getting widespread attention.
The site doesn't really keep a normal database or list of the leaks itself. Instead, it pulls that information from
Solana. Solana is a public blockchain, which basically means it's a shared online record that anyone can read, and once something is added to it, the time and details of that entry are permanently recorded.
In this case, each leaked item was added through its own separate transaction, so you can go back and see exactly when each one first appeared on cyberleek. You don't need any insider access to check it, it's all public.
The timeline:
- Aug 15, 22:08 UTC: first map sneak peek
- Aug 16, 15:11 UTC: second map sneak peek
- Aug 17, 21:07 UTC: basketball gameplay clip
- Aug 18, 17:26 UTC: full map
- Aug 18, 19:05 UTC: wrench/police clip
So the first map images had already been sitting there for
almost three days by the time most people started talking about them.
The basketball clip was also up for roughly
20 hours before the full map, about 20 hours and 19 minutes to be exact.
One thing I should clarify: these timestamps only show
when each item was added to cyberleek's list. They obviously don't prove that the files weren't already being passed around privately in DMs, Discord servers, Telegram groups, etc. before then. I can only really speak to what there's a public record for.
The website itself is also pretty unreliable when it comes to showing everything that's actually there. Sometimes it only loads a few items, and other times it just gets stuck on
"connecting please wait".
From what I can tell, that's because it relies on free public servers to read the blockchain data, and those servers can get overloaded or start refusing requests. So if you open the site and only see a few files, that doesn't necessarily mean the others weren't there yet.
The
Solana transaction history is the much better record for seeing when each item was actually added.
There's also one slightly weird detail: the first map sneak peek seems to have been added
twice on Aug 15, once at 22:08 and again at 22:17. I'm assuming the second one was some kind of repost or fix, but I can't say for certain.
